What song or album has shaped you the most? Why?
I don’t really have ONE… Gords Gold sure got a lot of play though.. to this day it’s still as comforting as macaroni and cheese.
If you could have dinner with any musician, living or deceased, who would it be, and what’s one question you’d ask?
Ugh this question never gets easier.. but since we’re talking about Lightfoot, I might like to ask him how he kept the channels so clear when writing songs. His writing is so simple, rich and elegant. In my experience that’s really fuggin hard. And the goal..
Describe the book that feels like it was written just for you.
A book that was just for me? Gil Adamson’s, The Outlander. About a feral woman in the run in 1903. That shiz hit(s).
Is there a genre of music or literature that you once disliked but have grown to love? What changed?
Genres… not so much a genre as a recording style… but that weird 90’s sound that was kind of zany or kooky sounding.. Jane Siberry.. most Mark Howard recordings.
What song best captures the current chapter of your life?
Smooth Operator.
If you could live in the world of any novel, which one would you choose and why?
Franny and Zooeys Manhattan, because it’s just so blasè and terrific and sophisticated and funny. Sigh.

Jennifer Castle. Her songs and her writing are like bubbling water. Gently eroding the world’s banks. I’m taking notes, Castle. Ish
What’s the song or book that makes you feel like you’re “home”?
I wish I had a book that felt like home but all I do there now is watch tv. Covid pattern hit hard hahah! I like piano music when I’m home alone and quietly unfolding. Satie, Hearn’s, There and Then, Steve Roach, Quiet Music 1. The Ramones, End of the Century… the one w, I Want You Around on it.
Who introduced you to the music or books that changed your life?
My neighbour growing up, most def. And my big sister Joanna. She had some deadly bud and reggae mix tapes, Joan Armatrading, Jimi Hendrix… I took the whole shoebox full when she went off to Uni. Serious score.

My young friend Leni Andromeda (and her uncle Winston Rowntree) is working on a comic that I’m pretty excited to follow up on.
